In Katherina Gorodynska Performance “Open to Winds”, wind becomes a metaphor for remembering. Gorodynska turns to collective memory as something unstable and polyphonic – carried through speech, silence, accent, and gesture. Rooted in her experience of losing a mother tongue, the piece uses multilinguality to show how identities overlap within one body.
In our short film programme, we let the wind carry us to Egypt, Greece, and Lebanon.
IDLY BY THE SEA by Kinda Hassan (LB/EG 2017, 19 min.) reminds us of how easy it is to forget what we’re made of. Events of loss remind us that we are our body while our body isn’t only our own.
OUR HOMES DO NOT EXIST by Anna Lamour (FR/GR 2025, 14 min.) is the story of a city, Athens, and its uninhabited houses, some might call them haunted. It is the story of the houses that remain, and of those yet to be imagined. It is the story of a house that does not exist.
In THE SECRET GARDEN by Nour Ouayda (GR, LB 2023, 27 min.) the inhabitants of a city awake one morning to find that never-before-seen trees, plants, and flowers suddenly erupted throughout the streets and in the squares.
